Am I eligible for Smoky Mountain Meals on Wheels?
Any senior regardless of income who is over the age of 60, homebound and who resides in Blount County may apply.
How do I apply for meals?
It is as simple as downloading and printing the application at the bottom of this page and either mailing it to or dropping it off at our offices located at:

How much does it cost?
On average, the cost to feed each senior per month is $60. Clients are given the opportunity to donate each month but there is no set charge for Meals on Wheels. It is a pay it forward donation system.
Do I have to live by myself in order to receive meals from Smoky Mountain Meals on Wheels?
No, but we do focus our services on our seniors who are isolated and who need community support. If you do live with someone but still need additional help, you may qualify for our services.
Will the drivers bring the meals inside?
Yes, our drivers can bring your meals into your kitchen, leave them on a table or counter or put them into your refrigerator – whichever you’d prefer. You can also accept the meals right at the door. You must be home to receive a meal. Our drivers will NOT leave a meal if you are not at home.
Can I stop service for a couple of days without being cancelled?
Yes. You will need to notify us one day in advance to either cancel or resume your service. Service can be suspended due to special circumstances such as hospitalization or convalescent stays.
When will my meals be delivered?
Meals will be delivered between 10AM and noon Monday through Friday.
Will my meals be delivered in inclement weather? On holidays?
As long as roads are safe for our drivers, we deliver in inclement weather. Just before Winter, we do stock shelf-stable meals in each person’s home for emergency reasons. All unexpected closures will be announced on local radio and television stations as “Smoky Mountain Meals on Wheels.” Holiday meals are delivered on the nearest delivery day before the holiday.
What comes in a typical meal?
Our meals are all nutritionally balanced and are overseen by a dietitian. To see a typical monthly menu, click on the menu at the bottom of this page.
Can I get food for my pets?
Through our AniMeals program, we can deliver dog and cat food to our Meals on Wheels clients. Just call our office at 865-983-8411 and speak with Lynnda at ext. 27.
